Core Values

Our Values

Trust God's Word: His word alone is forever reliable and true.

Our society is in desperate need of something that is objectively reliable and true, the spread of relativism and absence of morality are wreaking havoc. God’s word is living and active, His word is more than words on a page – His Word became flesh and came to seek and save what is lost. Jesus, the embodiment of God’s word is worthy of all our trust. His word as recorded in scripture is also entirely reliable and true for all things concerning life and salvation. We hope our family of faith will grow in its ability to radically trust God’s Word.

Rest: Pausing with Jesus changes everything.

As we reflect on our own busyness, I imagine many of us are tired of hearing how tired others are. For the most part, we have significant say in what fills our schedule. If we’re too busy for Jesus, we’re too busy. Jesus promises us rest if we will go to him and abide in him. When we learn to give Jesus meaningful time, he begins to change us at a heart level – he truly transforms our desires and decisions from the inside out. We’re hopeful that every person in our faith family will learn to regularly rest in the presence of Christ.

Journey Together: We're called to love each other sacrificially.

The secular and spiritually minded in our society all agree that while people are more connected than ever electronically they’re also more relationally isolated and lonely than ever before. Jesus didn’t journey alone, nor did he send his disciples out alone. Jesus himself said, “greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.” We’re encouraged to mourn & rejoice with one another, to confess our sins, to pray together, to gather for worship, to share our resources, and to consider others better than ourselves. God designed us to live in meaningful relationships. We’re hopeful that people of our church will risk being vulnerable and sacrificial with their time, emotions, and resources so that we avoid the temptation to journey alone. We’re better together.

The Lost & Forgotten: God's love is for all the world.

We believe this is the heart of God, to love all people, even those who are spiritually lost and socially forgotten. John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that he sent his only son…” Luke 19:10, “Jesus came to seek and save the lost.” One of the last commands Jesus gave to his followers was, “Go and make disciples of all nations…” Proverbs 14:31 says those who are generous to the poor honor God. Psalm 72 says, “may he defend the cause of the poor and defend the children of the needy and crush the oppressor.” We’re determined to not lose sight of those who are hard to reach in the world.

The Next Generation: Helping younger people become strong & courageous in Christ.

Our younger generations will face obstacles that haven’t yet been faced in our nation, we want to remain committed to creating space for them in our church family. This means we’ll need to be prepared for unique questions and perspectives and we’ll also need to be more focused in the way we go about equipping young people to navigate a culture that is increasingly anti-Christian. God has been gracious to bring our church family a strong number of children and young adults, we want to be focused and responsible with that gift he has given us.

Faith-filled Risk: God's plans are better than ours.

The Bible says we’re a people who walk by faith and not by sight, we’re hopeful that is a lived reality at Faith Alliance. Avoiding faith-filled risk leads to complacency and stagnation. The Bible is overflowing with examples of people who “stepped out of the boat” in obedience to God. We recognize that when God shows up in ways that are beyond the capability of any person, He receives all the glory, honor, and praise. His plans are way better than ours; we excited to go and see what God has in store for our church family!

At Faith Alliance Church our mission statement is, “to see every follower of Jesus going and making disciples who are engaged in Christ-centered discipleship that is marked by loving sacrificially, leading always toward Jesus, teaching God’s word, and praying for one another daily.”

Gospel Community Groups (GCG’s) are the primary way we plan to live out our mission, which we believe is also the mission that God has for His church. GCG’s are small groups of people who are committed to loving one another sacrificially as they meet together regularly to grow in faith. Not only do GCG’s invest in one another, but they’re also committed to reaching out to people in their sphere of influence who have a desire to learn or experience more about the Christian faith.

Why such a big name? Because we believe that the Gospel – or ‘Good News’ – that Jesus took our punishment for sin so that we could live with him forever – is not just something we believe once, but that God’s act of forgiveness, mercy, and love affects every moment of our lives if we allow him to. We get to live our lives as a response to God’s love rather than trying to win his favor. And we believe that we can only fully follow Jesus together, in community. Jesus asked us to love one another, forgive one another, and pray for one another – in fact all of the ‘fruit’ that God’s Spirit produces in our lives is demonstrated in how we relate to each other. We meet together because God works in us and through us.

What Makes a GCG a GCG?

GCG’s uphold four values:

1) Prayer – Groups will spend time in prayer each time the group meets. They will pray for one another and for people outside the group who do not yet know Jesus.

2) Scripture – Groups will spend time reading scripture and talking about how they should respond as individuals and as a group.

3) Accountability – Groups will work together to apply God’s word in day-to-day living in specific and measurable ways; they will follow up with one another each week.

4) Commitment – Groups will uphold a one year commitment. During this time they will meet together weekly (bi-weekly if weekly is not manageable). After one year each group will reassess where God is leading them.

Where and When do GCG’s Meet?

Many Gospel Community Groups meet on Wednesday night because a free dinner is served at 5:30 and children of all ages can attend classes as well (learn more about Wednesday night dinners and classes for infants through teenagers and adults, here). Even more adult groups and ministries meet at various times and places throughout the week.

E4 Project: Gabon, Africa – Hope House & Hands of Grace

Hope House is a children’s ministry for abandoned and orphaned children in Gabon, Africa. This ministry was created out of a local pastor’s vision to see orphaned and marginalized children given the opportunity to experience the love of Christ and parents, and to thrive and enact positive change on a society that had left them for dead. (Pastor Israel & Nathalie Ndoungou). There are between 40-60 kids living at this home at any given time. Hope House provides a loving and Christ-focused environment for the children and protects them from the dangers of human trafficking and living on the streets.  They also receive an education and the older children are taught skills that they can use to find employment once they are old enough to move on from Hope House.

Hands of Grace is our partner ministry to women in Gabon, Africa.  Hands of Grace Center is a place where women can come and receive training and earn income. The largest part of this center is the sewing ministry that trains and allows women access to machines, material and everything they need to learn a new skill. The women work on individual projects that they can sell, larger scale projects such as school uniforms and also items that we can export to States for them to sell as well. The ministry started out specific to widows, but includes all marginalized women who are outcast from their society and unable to find employment.

E4 Project: Nebobongo, Democratic Republic of the Congo

Nebobongo Hospital is a Christian run hospital that is under the authority of the regional church, CECCA-16 in the northeast corner of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The Nebobongo Evangelical Hospital, for all of its resource challenges, remains the best-equipped and staffed hospital in an area serving over 260,000 people in one of the poorest regions of one of the poorest countries on earth.  We have partnered with this ministry through funding a children school and funding a malnutrition program that benefits malnourished children. Faith Alliance hosts an annual 5k each Spring that goes towards the malnutrition program in Nebobongo.

In our affiliation with the Christian and Missionary Alliance, through the Great Commission Fund, Faith Alliance Church supports missionaries in over 70 countries around the world.

Every Sunday morning we gather for worship at 10am. If you are a visitor or guest please be sure to grab a gift bag at our welcome desk, it has helpful information about our church. If you’re still thinking about visiting, we hope we’ll have an opportunity to meet you soon! If any of your questions have gone unanswered, don’t hesitate to send us an email or give us a call. Below are a few more facts that might be helpful as you think about Sunday morning worship.

Worship Experience: 10:00am Sunday service lasts approximately 1hr 15min. We encourage everyone to make Sunday morning a time to escape from the busyness of day to day life, please come early and stay late for coffee, donuts, and conversation. Take your time, rest, talk with others, enjoy your morning with one another; there’s no rush!

Childcare: During the service there is childcare for ages 0-4 and there is Children’s Church for grades K-5, they all meet in our newly renovated kids unit. Many of our K-5 kids will start in the sanctuary until our worship songs are done. For the safety of our children and peace of mind for our parents, all of our adult volunteers have been through training and have had background checks. We also have a nursing room at the back of our sanctuary if you’re a mother who would like to keep your baby with you. For more questions about childcare or Children’s Church contact our Children’s Director, Gina Tangeman.

Dress: Jeans, polos, button-ups, dresses, khakis, and slacks… The majority dress casual to business casual. We gather together to honor Jesus and to offer our hearts in worship.

Communion: We share communion together the first Sunday of every month.

Prayer: Every Sunday we have a prayer team at the front of the sanctuary to spend time with anyone who would like to share prayer or praise requests.

Parking: There is parking in the front and back of the church. We have designated handicap and visitor parking spaces in the front, just to the south of the main entrance. Please enter the main entrance in the front and back parking lots.

Adults

Adult Ministry

Take your next step into community by joining others who share similar interests or stages of life.

GCG group (Gospel Community Group): Weekly adult small groups that journey together with Jesus and one another through life. Connect with us to learn more!

Wednesday Night Ministry: Fellowship with others over a meal every Wednesday night at 5:15pm. After, there are GCG groups or discipleship classes for adults while kids birth- 6th grade are cared for and have class in the children’s unit.

Men’s Ministry: Drawing men into a closer relationship with God, helping men live into their God given potential, and developing a sense of brotherhood. There are a variety of men’s opportunities throughout the year, such as men’s local retreat, trapshooting, retreat to Gatlinburg, man camp, and more.

Mom’s Ministry: Moms Group exists to encourage and challenge moms to think biblically while raising our kids. We wanted to grow in community as sisters in Christ! The group meets during the school year during the day for a moms Bible study, and during the summer, the group meets every other week at parks and splash pads.

Women’s Ministry: We strive to provide opportunities for the women of our church to build a united bond of Christian love with other sisters In Christ within our church, communities, and missionally wherever God calls them. They do a Spring retreat, campfire nights, advent breakfasts, and other informal game/fellowship nights.

-Business Impact Network (BIN) – A ministry for men of Northwest Ohio that offers networking opportunities, professional development, and spiritual encouragement. This happens at different local lunch venues, Noon to 1pm, the 3rd Thursdays of different months throughout the year.

At FAC, we love Wednesday nights! There is something special about being together to share a meal and to take time to open up the Bible so that we can learn more about God, his word, and what it means to follow after Jesus.

Here’s how it all goes down…

5:30pm: People start filling the fellowship hall from all directions and finding their seat. The kids are hungry and everyone can tell. At 5:30 we pray and then share a meal together. Many people aren’t able to arrive until a little later, that’ no problem at all! Come as you’re able.

6:15pmWith full stomachs and plenty of dessert, the children head for their classrooms, ready to roll! We offer classes and care for infants through 5th grade in the newly renovated Children’s Unit. It’s amazing what these little ones can learn! Parents check children in each week. Questions? Contact Gina.

6:30pm: Gospel Community Groups (GCG’s) start. Men’s groups, women’s groups, co-ed groups, married couples groups, they all exist. We’ll occasionally offer an elective that covers a specific topic.. If you’re new, try a few out and see what’s best for you. Questions? Contact Pastor Josh.

6:00pm: Student Ministries start for 6th -12th  grade students at the Youth Center. They gather as a group, hang out, share some time in the Bible, and then break out into small groups. There are adult volunteers who lead the students through conversation and questions that help everyone understand and apply scripture appropriately.  Questions? Contact Pastor James.

7:30pm: Everyone wraps up and heads for home. Parents find their children and adults linger over some unfinished conversations from their time in Gospel Community Groups.  People leave encouraged and prepared to take on another day.

Are you thinking of visiting for a Wednesday Night?  You can fill out this form to tell us more about yourself and request more information, we’ll be ready to welcome you!

Missions

Missions

What does it mean to be a mission-focused church?

In Matthew 28:16-20 Jesus tells his disciples to go and make disciples of all nations and to baptize people in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

As part of the Christian and Missionary Alliance, one of our denominational core values involves completing the Great Commission, which calls us to be missionaries to the world in which we live.

Our current partnerships:

● Local Ministries We Support: Elizabeth New Life Center, Family Life Center of Auglaize County, Rustic Hope, Agape Ministries, and Lima Rescue Mission.
● Christian and Missionary Alliance Partners
Faith Alliance partners with three separate teams who serve among some of the most unreached people groups of the world. These regions are highly Islamic contexts where there is little access to the gospel. Faith Alliance desires to support our Alliance workers through our prayers, our financial support, and by going to serve these teams during their annual Field Forum. If you would like to support the Alliance work around the world, the best way to give is to give towards the Great Commission Fund regularly. If you would like to support one of our partner teams, please consider giving regularly towards them. Due to security reasons, we cannot disclose the names of the teams in these regions. Please fill out the form below if you would like to know more about our specific partnerships and how you can support them.
● E4 Project
Faith Alliance also partners with the E4 Project who serves primarily in Gabon and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Throughout the years, Faith Alliance has been involved in several of the on-going ministries and projects of E4 including Hope House, Hands of Grace, Malnutrition Program, Mobility Cart Worldwide, and more. Please visit e4project.org for more information on how you can support their ministry.

Faith Alliance Church Mission Trip Opportunities

Gabon - Vicki Quellhorst leads a team to Gabon each spring to teach widows advanced sewing classes. If you are interested in this trip, please contact the Mission Committee below.

In our affiliation with the Christian and Missionary Alliance, through the Great Commission Fund, Faith Alliance Church supports missionaries in over 70 countries around the world.

Children

Children's Ministry

Our children’s ministry helps kids develop a personal relationship with Jesus, and to learn to love, worship and serve Jesus through all parts of their lives. We partner with parents to love, lead, and teach children.

We have children’s programming available during our Wednesday Night groups and classes, so parents can attend groups and class while their children are cared for. Nursery through 6th grade classes take place from 6 PM to 7:30 PM.

  • Nursery // birth-2 years old
  • Toddler // 2 and 3 years old
  • Preschool // 4 and 5 years old

Kids in kindergarten through 6th grade can select children's choir or Bible trivia and prayer from 6 PM - 6:40 PM. From 6:40 PM - 7:30 PM, Bible classes are offered. Classes are grouped together as follows.

  • Kindergarten and 1st Grade
  • 2nd and 3rd Grade
  • 4th and 5th Grade
  • 6th grade

Children’s programming is also available on Sunday mornings. Nursery, toddler and preschool classes start at 10:00 am and are in session for the entire church service. Kids church classes are available for kids in kindergarten through 4th grade. Kids church classes start after worship/singing in service; kids sit with their families, and are dismissed from the sanctuary.

All classes take place in the north, educational side of our building.

Secure Check - In: For Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights, parents and visitors must sign their children in and out at the check-in site in the children’s unit. Nursery, toddler and preschool parents will receive their pager and guardian receipt. For security reasons, children will only be released to a parent who has the pager or receipt at the end of the service. We also offer a check-in/out computerized system for regular attenders to sign in all children for safety and security purposes. Pick up for older kids (kindergarten through 6th grade) need to be parents or older siblings who come to the classrooms after service.
