Discipleship and Outreach Pastor

Tim Pollitz

What is your role at FAC?

Currently, my role is the discipleship and Outreach pastor. In regards to discipleship, I help oversee the small groups and classes that are currently happening within our church body throughout the week. Though not perfect, by God's grace, my heart is to help foster an organic, discipleship pathway where people are growing in the Lord, in the context of an authentic biblical Christian community for Kingdom impact!

Also, to strengthen an Ephesians 4:12 ministry in our local church, whereby believers in Christian community, have identified and are exercising their spiritual gifts in Christ, for the purpose that they can "...equip the saints for the work of ministry, for the building up of the body of Christ." (Ephesians 4:2)

When it comes to outreach, I help oversee the Fall Festival and Live Nativity each year, with an excellent team. In addition, my desire is to continue to provide biblical in-class and hands-on "field" experiences for our church to grow in evangelism, taking faith-filled risks, all the while learning to as they depend upon the Holy Spirit and God's faithfulness.

How long have you been at FAC?

1 year.

What do you love about being a part of the FAC family of faith?

What we stand for. Truth, Love, Jesus, mission, both locally and globally. I also love the people. It's a family on the move, learning to become more like an Acts 1:8 Family! Not just an institution, but a movement of God's people!

Tell us about your family and your interests outside of ministry.

I am married to my beautiful wife, Meredith for almost 13 years. Time flies. Love you honey, forever always! We try to find some "moments together" and grab a date night here or there (Thanks to wonderful parents of ours). We have 4 gifts from God, our kids Raelynn (11), Jonah (9), Nathan (7), Isaiah (almost 2). Our family (kids and me) are very "loud" at dinner time, Feel bad for my wife, on that note. Our family enjoys sports, in particular basketball, football, soccer, running around. Enjoy getting outside, going to the YMCA, riding bikes (if everyone's bikes are working), playing the infamous "Monster" (Dad's form of tag game), watching a family movie on the weekend (popcorn!), walking some trails, having other families over, etc. Truly blessed by God.

What is your previous training, ministry, and mission experience?

Went to Ashland Theological Seminary School (almost received certificate there). Then, I was the Youth for Christ of Miami Valley director for Darke County North schools for 4 1/2 years. From there, God called me to be the youth pastor at CMA church in Greenville, Ohio for a few years. I finished becoming ordained through the Christian and Missionary Alliance. After that, I basically stepped in to be a volunteer "interim pastor/elder" with a fabulous group of men at CMA church in 2021. Then, received the call in Spring of 2022 to come on to Faith Alliance church.

Worship and Care Pastor

Josh Kalichman

What is your role at FAC?

Worship and Care Pastor. As your worship pastor, my goal is to help create a space and time where we can experience God together. Worship is not the music or the singing, but the act of putting God at the center of our lives - to receive His love and grace and submit our lives to his good plans and purposes. Music is an incredible gift from God, so we use his blessing of music to praise Him with our voices.

As your Care Pastor, I'm honored to partner with our team of deacons and deaconesses to receive and respond to various needs among the church.

How long have you been at FAC?

Since September 2016.

What do you love about being a part of the FAC family of faith?

This community of Jesus-followers is fascinated by the goodness and beauty of God and His life-giving words to us in the Bible. I’m so glad to work among a community of people whose aim is to pattern their life after Jesus’ goodness, becoming life-givers to others as well. It’s amazing to see our strengths and weaknesses come together to honor God.

Tell us about your family and your interests outside of ministry.

I love my wife and two daughters. Spontaneous dancing and singing happens in our home every day. Other interests = playing the violin, arranging music, being outdoors, drinking seltzer water, imagining life in a tiny house...

What is your previous training, ministry, and mission experience?

Master’s in Music from Bowling Green State University; Music Ministry Director in Bowling Green, Ohio 2006-2010; Master’s in Counseling from Moody Theological Seminary; Disciple-Making Movements Apprenticeship 2013-2014; Living the great commission (Matt 28:19) in the Shenandoah Mountains, Metro-Detroit, briefly near the Mediterranean, and now in Auglaize County.

Mission & Vision

Mission & Vision

Mission

To see every follower of Jesus going and making disciples who are engaged in Christ-centered discipleship that is marked by loving sacrificially, leading always toward Jesus, teaching God’s word, and praying for one another daily.

We trust that every person who has a healthy relationship with Jesus is going to desire to share the Good News with others. The activity of sharing about Jesus is called making disciples, this is what Jesus told his followers to do before he ascended to heaven, we’re doing all we can to obey that command.  At FAC we emphasize the truth that God’s Church is made up of many parts, every single person has a place and a purpose in God’s family. It is the goal of our leadership team to continually be equipping and mobilizing all people for active ministry in the world. Our mission communicates how we plan to participate in discipleship once we are in relationship with someone who desires to live for Jesus. While each of these principles will always be present, the way that people express them will always look different. Let’s break down the four core components:

Love. Lead. Teach. Pray.

Loving sacrificially: John 13:35 says that the world will know we are disciples if we have love for one another. In the context of that writing it means that they will know we are disciples by the way we love other Christians. This does not support a neglect of love for the world, Jesus teaches that we are to love our enemies, it only means that we will especially love those who are followers of Jesus – they’re family, we’ll do anything for them!  Our goal is that we have a community of faith that doesn’t only attend church in the same place every week, but we truly love each other. We are willing to give time, resources, and energy to growing in faith together. We endure hardships together and we celebrate successes together. We’re here to love sacrificially.

Leading always toward Jesus:  In 1 Corinthians 11:1 Paul says, “imitate me as I imitate Christ.” This should be the goal of every Christian, that we can extend that same offer to the people we have the opportunity to lead toward Jesus. Discipleship is not only sharing knowledge, it’s not only scripture memory and time in prayer, it is doing life together. If there is someone we can help know more about Jesus we’re going to invest in their life. We’ll share meals, we’ll invite them into our homes, we’ll let them know we’re not perfect, we will talk about how Christians are to live in a world that is filled with people who don’t care much about obeying what’s taught in the Bible. Because we are always in pursuit of Jesus, if we ever lead anyone we will always be leading them toward Jesus – he is our goal, knowing Jesus is the prize.

Teaching God’s word: This is at the core of Jesus’ final command to his followers, “Go, make disciples, and TEACH THEM to obey all that I have commanded…” We believe the Bible is accurate and true, it is completely trustworthy. By teaching and obeying the word of God we are on the path to bringing Jesus glory and praise. If we teach anything contrary we no longer teach his commands, we teach our own, which are not always perfectly accurate and true. We know there are teachings in the Bible that are not very comfortable – we don’t always want to love our enemies – our desires sometimes go directly against what God asks of us. We believe there is more freedom and a more powerful testimony in submitting our lives to his word than there is in submitting his word to our lives. We’re committed to reading the Bible, learning what it says, and applying it to our lives as disciples of Jesus.

Praying daily for one another:  In 1 Thessalonians 5 we’re taught to, “pray without ceasing.” Prayer is the engine that keeps God’s Church on track. The follower of Jesus knows that God can accomplish what we cannot – he is infinitely more powerful and wise than we are. Our ability to lead well is limited and imperfect, we must continually lean on Jesus and trust him to work in us and through us. As we pray for those we disciple we welcome Jesus into the journey of growth. Jesus modeled a life of prayer, we hope to do the same. If you’re coming to discover Jesus or to grow in faith, you will be prayed for.

Vision

At Faith Alliance Church, our vision statement is to,

“Joyfully bring glory and praise to our Savior Jesus in all we do.”

It is our desire that this is the heartbeat of every person in our community of faith that is following after Jesus. We believe this way of living is a glimpse of heaven on earth, this is the abundant life that Jesus came to bring! Let’s look at the statement a little closer:

Joyfully…” – This is really important. Too often in the western world today Christians are portrayed as bored, uninspired, and grumpy. Throughout scripture we see time and again that God is the source of joy, overwhelming joy. A living relationship with Jesus gives us joy because we know his love now and joy because we have an indestructible hope for the perfect life to come. The joy of the Lord is so powerful that we are even told to, “rejoice in our sufferings.” At FAC we believe there is no greater thing than knowing Jesus, he leads us into a life of joy!

“Glory and praise…” – Jesus is worthy and deserving of all glory and praise. Scripture says that everything was created through Jesus and for Jesus. When we fulfill our purpose of worshiping Him then we can begin to know true joy and peace in this life. It is a powerful testimony and a beautiful image of God’s love when an entire community of believers unite in glorifying and praising Jesus – that’s our aim at FAC.

“To our Savior Jesus…” – Jesus is many things, but we choose to celebrate the reality that he is the Savior of the world. This is not only a primary focus at Faith Alliance, but it is at the core of the Christian and Missionary Alliance. God the Father offered up his only Son so that every person to ever live could have the opportunity to become a beloved child of God. If Jesus has set you free, you know this is worth celebrating! If you’re exploring the faith or desire to know more about freedom in Christ, we’re praying that you will join us to experience more of what it means to follow after Jesus.

“In all we do…” – We don’t believe in compartmentalizing faith. Church isn’t only on Sundays and Jesus cannot be put into a box. Christians don’t take vacations from Christian living, it’s our greatest joy to pursue Jesus at all times. This means that we want to create a culture where all followers of Jesus understand that they can worship Monday – Friday at work just as much as they can Sunday morning at church, we can worship in how we speak, parent, invest, vacation, and much more. All of life is worship, we’re hopeful that what we do as individuals who are part of FAC and what we do corporately as a church in our community, region, and world is all done in a way that Jesus is pleased with us.

Core Values

Our Values

Trust God's Word: His word alone is forever reliable and true.

Our society is in desperate need of something that is objectively reliable and true, the spread of relativism and absence of morality are wreaking havoc. God’s word is living and active, His word is more than words on a page – His Word became flesh and came to seek and save what is lost. Jesus, the embodiment of God’s word is worthy of all our trust. His word as recorded in scripture is also entirely reliable and true for all things concerning life and salvation. We hope our family of faith will grow in its ability to radically trust God’s Word.

Rest: Pausing with Jesus changes everything.

As we reflect on our own busyness, I imagine many of us are tired of hearing how tired others are. For the most part, we have significant say in what fills our schedule. If we’re too busy for Jesus, we’re too busy. Jesus promises us rest if we will go to him and abide in him. When we learn to give Jesus meaningful time, he begins to change us at a heart level – he truly transforms our desires and decisions from the inside out. We’re hopeful that every person in our faith family will learn to regularly rest in the presence of Christ.

Journey Together: We're called to love each other sacrificially.

The secular and spiritually minded in our society all agree that while people are more connected than ever electronically they’re also more relationally isolated and lonely than ever before. Jesus didn’t journey alone, nor did he send his disciples out alone. Jesus himself said, “greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.” We’re encouraged to mourn & rejoice with one another, to confess our sins, to pray together, to gather for worship, to share our resources, and to consider others better than ourselves. God designed us to live in meaningful relationships. We’re hopeful that people of our church will risk being vulnerable and sacrificial with their time, emotions, and resources so that we avoid the temptation to journey alone. We’re better together.

The Lost & Forgotten: God's love is for all the world.

We believe this is the heart of God, to love all people, even those who are spiritually lost and socially forgotten. John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that he sent his only son…” Luke 19:10, “Jesus came to seek and save the lost.” One of the last commands Jesus gave to his followers was, “Go and make disciples of all nations…” Proverbs 14:31 says those who are generous to the poor honor God. Psalm 72 says, “may he defend the cause of the poor and defend the children of the needy and crush the oppressor.” We’re determined to not lose sight of those who are hard to reach in the world.

The Next Generation: Helping younger people become strong & courageous in Christ.

Our younger generations will face obstacles that haven’t yet been faced in our nation, we want to remain committed to creating space for them in our church family. This means we’ll need to be prepared for unique questions and perspectives and we’ll also need to be more focused in the way we go about equipping young people to navigate a culture that is increasingly anti-Christian. God has been gracious to bring our church family a strong number of children and young adults, we want to be focused and responsible with that gift he has given us.

Faith-filled Risk: God's plans are better than ours.

The Bible says we’re a people who walk by faith and not by sight, we’re hopeful that is a lived reality at Faith Alliance. Avoiding faith-filled risk leads to complacency and stagnation. The Bible is overflowing with examples of people who “stepped out of the boat” in obedience to God. We recognize that when God shows up in ways that are beyond the capability of any person, He receives all the glory, honor, and praise. His plans are way better than ours; we excited to go and see what God has in store for our church family!

Gospel Community Groups

Because we believe that the Christian faith is meant to be lived in community and we know that the character of God is most powerfully experienced as we live in relationship with others, we have created Gospel Community Groups (GCG's). If you're looking for a place to connect with others who want to grow in faith together then Gospel Community Groups are a great place to start! Whether you're young or single, married, have children, new to the Christian faith, retired and mature in faith, or somewhere in between, we're a community ready to welcome you and help you get connected with others in a GCG.

Thank you for taking a few minutes to look at our website, hopefully you're finding answers to any questions you have. If God has put it on your heart to pursue him or to find a church in our area, we hope you will come visit us soon! The best way to learn more about who we are is by visiting on Sunday morning and joining us for worship, we'll have greeters ready to help you find your way. Wherever you go from here, know that God loves you and has a plan and a purpose for your life! Below are some answers to the most common questions we're asked.

When are Sunday services? 10am every Sunday morning. The service is also livestreamed on our Facebook page, YouTube page, and our website under the Resources tab.

Where is Faith Alliance Church located? We are located at the north side of New Bremen. You will see our church on the west side of State Route 66. Our address is 6670 Knoxville Ave., New Bremen, OH 45869.

Where do we enter the church?  Please use the centrally located doors at the front or back of the church, these will lead you into the foyer area. Both the front and back entrances are handicap accessible.

What should I wear? Most everyone will be dressed casual to business casual.

Do you have childcare? Kids Church is available for children ages 3 through 5th grade during worship every weekend. Nursery care is offered for ages 2 and under. To find out more, see our children's page.

What are the ways people get involved in your church? This depends on the desire and needs of an individual or family. We have Gospel Community Groups that are a primary way to get connected with others. We have people who help lead worship, help with coffee every Sunday, help with childcare, are in fitness ministries, mother's ministries, men's groups, women's groups, some help cook our Wednesday night meals, others volunteer with our student ministries, take a mission trip, or visit individuals or families in need. The ways to get involved are many, we would love to talk more with you about this when you have time.

What denomination are you a part of? We are a part of the Christian and Missionary Alliance. We love this denomination for many reasons. Jesus is at the center of everything we do. We recognize Jesus to be our Savior, Sanctifier, Healer, and Coming King. We aim to not cause division over non-essentials, but we do stand firmly for what is true as revealed in the Bible. We also highly value global missions – we love supporting and visiting our brothers and sisters around the world who are doing great things for God’s kingdom!

What do you believe? See the, “what we believe” page on the Christian and Missionary Alliance website.

“I’m exploring the faith,” or “I’m new to faith," what do you have for me? Praise God! There is no more exciting time in life than to watch someone come to faith in Jesus, we would be thrilled to journey alongside of you during this time in your life. It’s amazing to see how God has transformed marriages, families, and individuals as they surrender completely to Jesus. We would love the opportunity to partner with you as you take the first steps in discovering who Jesus is. We value discipleship and leadership development, we’ll be ready to open up God’s word and follow after Jesus alongside of you in either a group or 1 on 1 setting.

Can I talk with a pastor or elder? Definitely! Call the church Monday – Friday, 8:30 – 4:30, we’d love to talk with you. 419-629-3688

Core Values

Truth

Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life, nobody comes to the Father except through me.” Jesus embodies all that is true, his teachings lead us into all truth, and it is that truth that will transform lives and introduce people to the greatest joy and peace there is. This value goes against much of what western society stands for today (ie. Tolerance and relativism), but we trust that God and his word are still true. We see daily that submitting to God’s word brings healing to marriages, joy to the depressed, peace to the overwhelmed, and understanding to the lost. While we do not compromise on what we believe is true, it is our hope and prayer that we are not inconsiderate or harsh in how we communicate God’s perfect word. Scripture teaches that we should speak truth in love, Jesus told his disciples to be as wise as snakes and as innocent as doves. We believe those teachings from the Bible are true so we’re doing all we can to obediently apply them. Jesus says to a group of men, as recorded in John 8:31, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Prayer

Time and again we see Jesus step away to spend time in prayer by himself, he valued time away with God his Father. Prayer is one of the primary ways we are able to stay in relationship with God, he provides direction for daily living and he works for us in ways that we cannot imagine. Prayer will forever be a mystery in the minds of all people, it is the behavior that allows our eternal souls to engage the eternal creator, and through it God does amazing things. At FAC we take seriously the idea taught in scripture to, “pray without ceasing.” We see the fruit of prayer and when we don’t see the fruit we trust God is working in the way that he knows is best. We commit to pray for one another, for our corporate Church, for our communities, families, friends, and missionaries around the world. Whether we’re in a season of waiting or a season of harvest, we will continue to sow seeds in prayer trusting that God will make them grow in his perfect timing.

Discipleship

Our value of discipleship flows out of our time in God’s word and prayer. The Holy Spirit is always sending followers of Jesus out into the world to make disciples. Discipleship is the process of journeying alongside of another person in pursuit of Jesus. In 2 Timothy 2:2 Paul says, “what you have heard from me entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.” That is a beautiful model of discipleship! At FAC we desire to raise up men and women who can lead others. Discipleship is the primary tool for maturity in Christ and leadership development. There is no greater privilege in this life than to have the opportunity to journey alongside of someone who has responded to the good news of Jesus. It is our goal to maintain a culture of discipleship where all believers are actively engaged with one another as they share life and actively seek after Jesus together.

Worship

At FAC we love to gather together and worship Jesus, we trust this will be evident to all who join us on Sunday mornings. While we enjoy worshiping with instruments and voice, we also recognize that God has designed all creation to worship him. Because people have been created in the image of God we have been given the amazing opportunity to live in such a way that our entire lives worship God. Romans 12:1 says, “present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God, this is your spiritual act of worship.” It is when we surrender our entire lives to Jesus that we enter into the worship that God most desires. One role of the church is that we help each other live lives of worship. We learn to lead in business in ways that please God, we vacation in ways that please God, we spend our weekends in ways that please God, we handle our marriages and parenting in ways that please God – all of life is to be an act of worship. We take great joy in worship and we hope to help others discover to joy that comes from worshiping Jesus.

Mission

We believe God is always on the move. Acts 1:8 is at the core of the Christian and Missionary Alliance, it says, “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” From the beginning of time God has been on a mission to see people come to himself, it is our desire to be actively engaged in God’s mission locally, regionally, and globally. Beyond equipping and mobilizing people in our church to participate in God’s mission right here in rural Ohio, we also have strategic partnerships with workers around the world who are living in areas with very little access to the gospel.

If you want to know more about our vision and mission do not hesitate to ask. If you have a desire to know more about the Christian faith or the person of Jesus, we would love to talk with you about some introductory options we have for new believers or those exploring the faith. If you’re already a follower of Jesus who wants to grow stronger in faith, or if you’re looking for a place to live completely for Jesus as you participate in the mission of God, we’re praying that you will join us if it doesn’t require you to leave a healthy church community. We are excited about what God is doing through his Church in rural Ohio and through our network of missionaries who are working around the world.

We began Church Project in 2010 with the value of simplicity for the sake of generosity. We have maintained our commitment of 50% of our budget outside the walls of our church for meeting needs through gospel-centered ministry partnerships and church planting locally & globally.

People who follow Jesus give their lives away to serve others. Jesus did that, so should those who follow Him. We want to follow Jesus, and we encourage and challenge one another to give our lives to things that matter now and forever.
